What will I do?

You'll learn new techniques to add to the experience you already have in a specialty area and have fun fine-tuning your skills and teaching methods. Plus, you'll get great ideas for marketing your specialty diver courses.

What scuba gear will I use?

You will need to equip yourself with all the basic scuba gear, some scuba accessories and depending on which specialties you teach, you'll need other specialty diving gear such as dive lights or underwater photography equipment.

What are the prerequisites for this course?

PADI IDC Candidates & PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors who are at least 18 years old may enroll in our PADI Specialty Instructor training programs.

You also need to have:

  • Be certified as a diver for at least 6 months
  • Be certified as a PADI Instructor or enrolled on the PADI IDC with Scuba Leeds
  • Have 100 logged dives that include experience in night, deep and navigation diving
  • Be fit for diving and submit a medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months
  • Have proof of CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months (The PADI EFR course meets this requirement)
  • 10 experience dives in each particular Specialty Rating enrolled onto.

Note that qualifying certifications from other diver training organisation may apply - ask your PADI Instructor.
