The Essentials Workshop is designed to enable the certified diver to extend fundamental skills in the water. It focuses on three main areas:
• Trim & Postitioning
These skills are all directly linked to each other, however mastering buoyancy is critical to allowing your trim and positioning. Without developing these skills, moving towards advanced propulsion techniques is very challenging.

What will I do?
The Essentials programme is conducted over three 90-minute 5.5m pool dives and can be combined with additional open water dives if you choose. Your instructor will be able to talk to you about these additional dives during your program. The techniques and knowledge developed in this program will help prepare increase skill competency and understand fundamentals that will allow them to take their diving to the next level.
You will also practice some core elements to diving that make us safer, more skilled and essentially allow us to enjoy the underwater world, such as:
• Dive team protocols
• Basic Five
• S-drill and valve-drill
• Equipment fit and functions
• Propulsion techniques
• Pre-dive drills
• Surface marker deployment
• Diver rescue techniques (Fundamentals Tech)
What are the prerequisites for this course?
You will be required to complete:
• PADI Continuing Education Administrative Document – Please ensure you are fit to dive by checking this form.
If you answer YES to any of the questions on the PADI Medical Statement, you will need to get a medical physician to sign the form to confirm fitness to dive prior to any in-water activities.
