Discover Sidemount, that bit on the side of scuba diving. This is the ideal way for you to experience learn sidemount diving and see what it has to offer.
Sidemount diving simply means that your tank is no longer mounted on your back, but under your arm aligned with your body. This makes divers more streamlined with much easier access to the tank valves, making responding to diving emergencies quicker and easier. The good thing about Discover Sidemount is that any certified diver can try it before committing to the full course. The Discover Sidemount introduces you try sidemount gear in shallow water. Then it’s off for a swim and a quick introduction of the basic skills.
What will I do?
During the experience you will be introduced to some of the benefits of diving with a sidemount configuration in our 5.5m diving pool. You will:
• Learn what wearing sidemount diving equipment feels like and how easy it is to move around underwater while wearing it.
• Find out what it’s like to switch between cylinders to keep them trimmed underwater.
• Learn some basic safety skills/drills you will complete during the PADI Sidemount Diver course.
What scuba gear will I use?
We will provide full Sidemount equipment during your experience. You will need to bring basic equipment including mask, snorkel and fins as standard. We provide you with a X-Deep Stealth 2.0 Rec sidemount system, two Ali 80 cylinders, two sidemount regulators and weights.
What are the prerequisites for this course?
For the Discover Sidemount program, you need to be a PADI Open Water Diver and at least 15 years old.
You also need to complete:
• PADI Continuing Education Administrative Document – Please ensure you are fit to dive by checking this form.
If you answer YES to any of the questions on the PADI Medical Statement, you will need to get a medical physician to sign the form to confirm fitness to dive prior to any in-water activities.
