Rescue Diver

Course Description

“Challenging” and “rewarding” best describe the PADI Rescue Diver course. Building upon what you’ve already learned, this course expands on what you already know about how to prevent problems, and how to manage them if they occur.

The fun part about this course is rising to challenges and mastering them. Most divers find this course both demanding and rewarding, and at the end, say it’s the best course they’ve ever taken.

What will I do?

The PADI Rescue Diver course is split into three sections – classroom, pool, and open water. Three pool sessions introduce the 10 basic rescue skills, teaching you how to deal with a number of situations, such as surfacing an unresponsive diver, panicked diver at the surface, missing diver search patterns, and more, as well as assessing your readiness for open water.

You will then have one full day at open water where you will show your PADI Instructor that you have mastered all the skills previously learned and practiced in the pool and are now confident to complete them in actual diving situations. The day culminates in a couple of real-time scenarios where you will react appropriately to simulated emergency situations as they arise.

What scuba gear will I use?

You use all your basic scuba gear including a dive computer and accessories.

How do I start learning now?

The PADI Rescue Diver crewpak includes all materials required to complete the PADI Rescue Diver course – including a pocket mask. You’ll learn how to think like a rescue diver and preview skills you’ll practice with your PADI Instructor. Once your Rescue Diver course is complete, you can review the DVD to refresh your dive safety skills as needed. This toolbox of knowledge and techniques will give you the expertise to handle almost any emergency situation.
