Aqua Lung i770R Software Update

Aqua Lung i770R Software Update to Version: 1B02

In response to input received from staff and users of the i770R, Aqua Lung has corrected or modified the following items to improve the i770R’s operation:

  • We have increased the choice of onboard languages; adding Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, and Polish.
  • Performance improvements have been made to the compass declination function.
  • Corrected erroneous dive data being logged on the i770R.

NOTE: This error has not been shown to have any effect on the actual diving function or tracking of tissue loading.  These functions are completely separate in software design.

UPDATE PROCESS

You can update your i770R firmware (operating software) to newly released revision 1B02 by using the DiverLog for Mac/Windows app. NOTE: The i770R USB/power cable will be required for this update. Follow the How to Update Firmware to a Dive Computer instructions found in the DiverLog Mac/Windows app.  There is no need to return the unit to Aqua Lung.

DiverLog app is available to download.

My i770R firmware update failed. I was using bluetooth and my dive computer’s battery was fully charged. The download of the software was successful (100%) and things continued as expected until a notification which ended in the word RAM appeared, which I assume meant the device’s ramdom access memory was being updated or loaded and then a while later there was a failure message. Now the dive computer is frozen with the CONNECTION MADE message on the screen. This has been on the screen for well over 4 hours now. I have not pressed any of the buttons on the device for 3 hours or more since it froze. What do I need to do?

      Hi James,

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your i770R. This is not the first time I have heard of this happening, unfortunately. The problem occurs when using Bluetooth for the Firmware Updates. The instructions for the update recommend using the data cable (the cable used for charging the device) for the update. The download via data cable should only take around 15 mins or so. Download via Bluetooth can take hours and hours, as you have found out. I assume (as you posted on this blog 15hrs ago) that your download will have timed out by now.

Basically this problem is caused by your smartphone rather than the dive computer. If your smartphone gets an interruption of the Bluetooth or data connection for any other application, receives a call or text, this can interrupt the download. This is what can cause the device to freeze.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

      Cheers Alex
