Open Water Diver

If you've always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

What Will I Do?

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

Knowledge Development - Self-study knowledge development and 2 classroom sessions

Confined Water Dives - 5 dives in a pool to learn the basic scuba skills

Open Water Dives - 4 open water dives to put your skills into practice and to have fun

If you've tried diving through a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, the skills you learned may be credited towards a portion of the full PADI Open Water Diver course certification. If you have completed this with us here at Scuba Leeds within the last 4 weeks we will take your £30 Discover Scuba Diving fee off your PADI Open Water Diver course fee.

Your Scuba Gear

Scuba Leeds will provide all your basic scuba diving equipment, including: mask, snorkel and fins, a buoyancy compensating jacket that also carries your scuba tank, a scuba regulator to breathe from, instrumentation to monitor depth and air supply, a wetsuit for pool use and drysuit and undersuit to keep you warm during your open water dives.

Your Learning Materials

PADI offers a variety of home-study materials, either paper or digital, for the Open Water Diver course. The most popular method of self study is the PADI Touch which installs onto your tablet and is fully interactive with videos and tutorials to help you learn in the easiest way.
